So today, I head out with just one goal, have three transponder keys I ordered from Ebay cut and program them with my 2 existing keys. So I head out to Home depot where this Jabba the hut looking M__ F_er tells me he won't do it. If he screws up the cut he doesn't want to be responsible for the transponder key. I assure him I won't hold him accountable. 2 of the keys were the cheaper non key fobbed key. I really wanted spares incase I lose one/both eof my original keys so I won't need to go to the dealer and pay 180 bucks for a key. Anyways he's insistant that he won't do it, so I shake my head at him and leave.
I figure what the heck, I'll try Lowes. So I go in and this "Customer Service" guy is by the key counter. He askes me if I needed keys cut and I say yes, so he get's on the PA and calls some one. While I wait, I ask the C/S guy if they have a problem cutting Transponder keys. He says it's not a problem, so I quickly tell him my Home Depot story. Finally this scraggly looking guy shows up. I give him my key and he puts it through some reader. I say I just want the key cut, I can program them myself. He ignores me and continue punching away at a keyboard. Then to the touch screen. He asks what type of car. I look at the word "Jeep" plainly embossed on my key and I say Jeep. He pushes some choices on the screen, and finally says it's not here. I say look under Chrysler. He then starts rattling of a list of different GM cars, after everyone I reply "GM." after about a dozen different models he looks at me and says its not here. I say again I'm not looking to get these programed, I just want them cut. He gets all pissy at me and says he can't do that. I look at the C/S manager and he says yes we can. The dude asks "We can cut his keys?!?!?" the C/S looks and says oh no sorry, we can't do that.
I really miss Mom and Pop stores. All the Locksmiths that used to be on the main street here in Westbury are gone. Can anyone recomend one for me some where in Nassau?
