Sorry for the late post. Somehow my home desktop can't type in Chinese anymore after I updated to SSD, and had so much trouble uploading videos to youtube. But here it is for the first day hunting experience in South Africa.
20 hours flight from Chicago to Johannesburg is pretty smooth. Firearm checking is also easy after proper paper work submitted.
Big Africa Elephant Statue in the Tambo Airport.
My outfitter Gerrit from Bos En Dal. Qiangyou forum hero MorningStar (right) and experienced Chinese hunter brother Yuan (left)
Driving to Gerrit's hutning ground is very smooth, takes about 2 hours. High way condition is really good except once awhile you see people walking on highway shoulders. The rule is never stop for anyone, there are lot of robberies happening that way. By the time we got to the gaming farm, it is already very dark.
The lodging is beautiful, like 4 star hotel. Here are some pictures:
The next day we get ready at 5:30am. It is still dark. A camping fire is already started. Off we go on the safari disel Toyota Cruiser.
After a few shots, I made sure my rifles are all set. The gaming farm is about 8000 acre. mainly bushes with heavy covers. Method of hunt is first spot by driving the safari vehicle, then on foot stalking.
A few minutes driving in the farm, I first see a bunch of ostriches. It is said the male ostrich can be very aggressive, he will kick and stomp on you. Be very careful.
View point of the ostrich hen. She will be my first target. Shooting distance is about 50 yard. She is very wary, takes us sometime to find a good shot window. 300 WM, one shot deal. Look at how big and strong the ostrich foot is.

There are quite many impalas around. They are very skittish. They oink like pigs, always behind heavy covers. I shot this one from about 100yd. Very big horn. Unfortunately we did not have time to set up the camera.
Time is now around noon. Time for lunch and quick nap.
Afternoon hunt is a little harder. Animals probably all hide in the shade. There is a group of blesbok hanging around. They are relatively dumb. Blesbok has this white face, like Chinese opera character. Here is my first failed attempt. Someow the herd is spooked, just scattered when I am about to pull the trigger.
About 30 minutes later, we got pretty close to this one, about 60 yard away. One shot kill.

We spotted a few zebras in the field as well. But they are very cautious. Zebras usually hang out in wide open grass praire. It is very hard to spot or track them in heavy cover. Usually it is just a bright flick in the behind bushes. You have to really look hard to spot them. After abotu 2 hours stalking, finanlly we got a a chance. No time for camera setup. About 150 yd, front center. 375 Ruger.
There are some good hills to climb up and down in the gaming ranch. We also saw some giraffes. The are just like light post sticking out on the opposite hill side. We also saw some Kudus, about 800-1000 yard way. Unfortunately they are just behind fence of the neighbour's property. Here are the pictures and videos:

Four kills on the first day. What a great start!
