I have both cameras and they are good for different situations. The RX100 has better IQ (IMO) and more buttons which gives more direct control. The built in flash is very convenient (bouncable!) and the lens has a great zoom range. However there are some pitfalls. I find the colors to be a little cold/blue (OOC JPEG) and the AF misses quite often. It can be very dificult to photograph running children with it due to the problem with the AF missing. The built in stabilization is not very good either, at least not compared to the VR in the Nikon lenses. The lens is F1.8 only wide open, it very quickly drops. This is somewhat solved by the high MP which allows some cropping.
The V1 on the other hand is made for speed. The AF is dead accurate and the metering is great. Even in low light it almost never misses a shot, even though it sometimes takes a little time to focus (but still faster than the Sony). The VR also makes it possible to shoot hand-held down to 1/15, this can not be done with the Sony. The buffer is great and you can shoot a lot of pictures with high frame rates. The EVF is also great, and coming from a DSLR I use it almost exclusive. You can find some custom picture controls on this forum, and this adds i nice feature. I sometimes miss a flash, but the SB-N5 is quite small and produces better pictures than the built in flash of the Sony.
Overall I prefer the Nikon because of its speed and flexibility. It is more "fun" to shoot and I guess I use it around 70% of the time. The only time I use the Sony is when I know I want / need something pocketable. I probably will buy the new 10-100mm and then I see myself using the Sony even less.
Both cameras are very good, and I can't imagine you would be disapointed with either. However with the current low price of the V1 this is more "bang for the bucks" at this moment (IMO).
If possible I would suggest that you visit a store and try both, they give a very different handling experience.
