Permit to Kill - antlerless deer
在一些deer population问题太大的州,我们有7 months archery season, plus 5 months Kill Permit season. Kill Permit 只给专门的bowhunting组织,比如我们
Suburban Whitetail Management of Northern Virginia (www.deerdamage.org)
There was a study done on Kill Permits (KP’s) in 2011 by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF).
This study was an end-to-end evaluation on the KP’s, how efficient they were issued, how often they were used and how Virginia
faired against other states that had similar programs. I am going to attempt to glean a few facts, figures and highlight items that have
been discussed internally about KP’s to give everyone a better understanding for the need to take advantage of this very liberal
issuance of permits in Virginia.
How does Virginia stack up? “Over the last 15 years (1996- 2010), approximately 35,648
kill permits have been issued by the VDGIF for 23 different species. Deer kill permits represent
the large majority of all permits issued (86%).” The VDGIF has issued 30,618 permits to assist in
controlling deer populations during these years. This works out to be approximately 3,004
permits per year and they have been used to harvest an average of 13,804 deer annually. The
graph to the right shows how there has been a steady increase in permits issues up to 2010.
