Lucked out with both elk and bear (graphic, viewer discretion advised)

Got back home yesterday morning 2am from Montana wilderness hunting trip. I lucked out being the only one filled both elk and bear tag. Hilights:

1. It pays to hunt with an expereinced friend/mentor. My partner Philip is a Phd in biology and has 20 years hunting expereince.
2. US Wilderness code mandates no mechanic vehicles. So we uses outfitters to use mules to haul in equipments to basecamp.
3. Hardest workout ever, ten times more vigorous than deer hunting. Average 10 miles hiking with 25lb backpacking. When there is harvest, 50lb maet load 7 miles hiking with 1000ft climbing totally drains you physically.
4. 600 lb elk kill is heavy mother fucker. We need to debone the meat and only carry the meat for hiking back to basecamp 3.5 miles away.
5. Bear kill is lucky using elk carcass to ambush. Baiting is not legal but this is gray area if you use previous kill remains.
6. .308 is totally adequate, 165 gr bullet drops the games instantly. I am confident of its performance upto 300yd.
7. Get a waterproof boots is paramountly important. My Danner Raptor boots soaked through in heavy morning dew hiking. Probably I need water repellant spray.
8. Mountain hunting temperature varies greatly. It freezes at night and over 80F during day. Bundle up if you need to sit and ambush for a long time at dawn or dusk.

建议楼主加个“血型慎入”什么的。也许有些枪友会觉得。。过于感官刺激。。

说说生物PHD都有啥优势吧，俺也是生物PHD，从小对动物行为感兴趣，是不是这个对打猎会有点用？

My partners knows a lot of what food/plants the elk and bear eats. By examining the scats and knowing plants habitat will give you hunts where the games might be. In the end, hunting experience is the most important. He goes outdoors 6 months of a year. Staying in a lab probably won't help much.

If you have not subscribed meat from me before, I would advise you to ask someone close to you to share. I have given the list of 25 friends to the meat processing shop. Can't revise it anymore.
