I don’t because no amount of insurance going to help you if you don’t know the law. I read actual cases to get an understanding of what to do and out not to do. Also, it depends on your state law. My state have a no liability for justify self-defense meaning no civil lawsuits.

The part that cost money is when the da charged you. If you know your local law and police department, they can declare it as justified shooting and advice the da the same. You need to know what to do. Police are not your friend, get a lawyer if you don't know what to do. I seem many YouTube videos that are on risky side of self defense but the police still declared it as justified. Depends on a lot of factors and some are political environments of the time. I got two great lawyers on speed dial. One former police another former da. In this world , you either put your time in on research and learning or you put your money in to hired someone else to do it. 很多买枪的新手，他们觉得遇到危险的时候要fire a warning shot. NO! 正当防卫，你只能在你觉得你生命遇到危险的时候把枪拿出来。warning shot going to get you charged with at least felony assault with a firearm. 如果你处于这种情况第一个你要做的是告诉警察，你要去医院，你整个人都很不舒服。Kept saying "I was scared for my life" nothing more. 去医院的这段时间你可以有时间思考和联系你的律师，因为你所讲的话都会成为呈堂证供，你必须知道什么该说什么不该讲。但是你不能用你的话在法庭上证明自己的清白。你所讲的话只能对你有害不会对你有利，在法庭上面。警察在法庭上面可以说你对他说了什么什么什么，但是你不能在法庭上面说我跟你讲了什么什么什么。你可以自己做自己的证人但是你的话对一个警察第三者的话，你觉得陪审团会喜欢谁？Google hearsay. 如果没有监控、对方死了、没有证人、你的话成为唯一的证据。在这个情况里面你自己本身是最大的问题。
