Surprisingly to those who are unfamilar with the auto industry, all those worker got their job back with the help of UAW as Chrysler was forced to rehire them after initially fired them for drinking.

If a Jeep is really desired, then I would suggest the new 2014 Cherokee. It is a brand-new design that incorproates elements from Fiat, Alpha Romeo, and Jeep altogether. The interior is beautiful. It you want off-road ability, then the Traulhawk edition with fully-loaded accessory might serve your need, both for offroading and daily commuting.
Another reason for me to propose Cherokee is that Cherokee is made in Toledo Plant, whose quality assurance manager was promopted to Auburn Hill headquarter for her merit and achievements in quality control at Telodo Plant.
Last, it takes certain time for people to get used to the feeling to its 9-speed transmission whose shifting pattern is very different from a traditional 5/6 speed transmission, especially at low speed and during accelerating.

I will also suggest the FJ Cruiser by Toyota. It is its last year of production and its off-road capacity has been proven many times. Plus, despite all the recent setbacks, Toyota's quality control is one of the best in industry.

The new Cherokee does have a knob selector for different terrains that is similar to the one on Range Rovers. Nevertheless, its engine is transversely mounted instead of longitudinal-mount.
Its seat is quite comfortable when I tried it last month.

Since you are in Canada, is that possible to import a new Land Rover Defender directly? It is illegal to import any Defender that is less than 25 years old into the U.S. due to its noncompliance with NHTSA regulations.

This is what happens when they try to smuggle it to the U.S. with false documents.

Talking about Civic, 2013 and 2012 editions are quite different in terms of the steel used.  2013 model is way better than 2012, although they look the same.
Why not get her a four wheel drive sedan? so many choices for that and better for winter driving
