Tokarev TT-33 Type 54 Gun Review
This is a Type 54 pistol removed from a weapons cache at "Rock Island East" in Cambodia by the US Army 1st Air Cavalry Division during the Vietnam War.
On 6 May (1970) the 2nd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, launched Operation Toan Thang 45 against Base Area 351 northwest of Bù Đốp District. On 7 May the Cavalry located a massive supply cache, nicknamed "Rock Island East" after the U.S. Army's Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois, the area contained more than 6.5 million rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition, 500,000 rifle rounds, thousands of rockets, several General Motors trucks, and large quantities of communications equipment.[4]:167 A pioneer road was constructed to aid the evacuation of the captured weaponry.
"Here is an example, Chinese Tokarevs, refinished just like these imported (note both the star and plain circle grips), captured from arms smugglers by Ethiopian security at the Somalia/Ethiopian border last year"
