There are faster ways to do that. Excessive press out means wasted motion, which slows you down. Speed is gained through economy of motion. Very short press out is needed. However, you generally need very good indexing of your gun to begin with.Ron Avery had an extensive video to explain it in very scientifc way but I can no longer find the video. Look how Doug does the regular draws in the video, not what he says. Doug Koenig is an extremely accuracy oriented shooter (multi bianchi cup champions) and very fast as well. He's not very good at explaining things though
Excessive press out is also not really needed for long double action shots. Jerry Miculek certainly doesn't do it that way.
Todd Green's press out is still very good technique and can be very consistent.
