I'd think with the lower velocity from a short barrel, a +p load or heavier bu ...

barrel twist especially 3-4" pistol barrel, velocity. Also 147gr projectiles are over penetrating.

true.  but at a 1 in 10 twist (such as for shield), is there really a difference between 115, 124, or 147gr in stability?   +p would compensate a bit for that, right?

for over penetrating, that's what jhp is for

I coudn't tell cuz i never did the test by myself. For me 3" pistol is not the one ill carry to protect my family, I will grab my SBR AR or EVO. I know couple of guys did the test, the reults are interesting.  For example shield, most of 147gr JHP projectiles(+P) are overpenetarting without good expansion. However, 115gr shows very good reults both in expansion and penetration.

very interesting, thanks much for the info!

i carry shield with 124gr +p, remington golden sabre bonded jhp ... i remember i read somewhere it's a good choice for it ;). i practice with 147gr fmj just trying to match the feel a bit better ... for home of course there are other tools at hand, plus i carry at home all the time as well.
