My condolences to you!
SKS with non-detachable mag is not an AW, full stop. You're good to go there. For the AR: ditch the standard capacity mags; pin the stock; if you have a flash hider, replace it with a compensator and have it pinned and welded on; and grind off the bayonet lug if it has one. You're then in compliance with the AWB. The AG's 7/20/16 notice is a different animal, and no one really has any concrete answers there, but the consensus seems to be that if you purchased the AR prior to that date you're fine. I would just make sure you have some paperwork to show when you purchased it, just in case.
When you move in you have a 60 day grace period, but be mindful that it often takes longer than that to receive your LTC. Either leave the guns in GA until you receive the LTC and then drive them up, or leave them locked up in the safe if you have to bring them in with you. I believe the safe legal answer here is to leave them out of state until you have the LTC in hand.
Only LTC-As are issued anymore. The state phased out the LTC-B several years ago, so the real question is if either town is green for issuing unrestricted licenses. I'm not sure about either of those towns but I suspect it would be okay. You can check the sticky thread in this forum for more information. There should be someone in there that's gone through the process fairly recently for either town.
Also remember that you do not have to register any firearms you move in with.
