Arizona Approves Four Pro-Gun Laws

Arizona lawmakers just gave approval for four “major” pro-guns laws in the state senate. The  state house of representatives approved Second Amendment related bills which allow concealed carry  permit holders to take their firearms into government buildings which do not  have security measures.

One of the Arizona pro-gun bills mandates fines on both municipalities and  officials who enforce gun laws which are stricter than those passed by the  state.

The fourth Arizona pro-gun bill would prohibit  municipalities from restricting the shooting of guns on private property.

All four of the Arizona gun rights laws must now be approved by the full  governing body before being placed on Governor Jan Brewer’s desk for signature.

加州的：

Assembly Bill 1964 would remove existing exemptions for all single-shot pistols, other than those with a break top or bolt action, from California’s roster of “not safe” handguns.  AB 1964 passed in committee by a 12 to 5.

The first bill would have allowed carry permit holders to carry into government buildings that don’t have security (metal detectors, armed guards, etc). Brewer said this would place a financial burden on cities that didn’t want guns in their buildings,

“I am a strong proponent of the Second Amendment, and I have signed into law numerous pieces of legislation to advance and protect gun rights. However, I cannot support this measure in its proposed form,” Brewer said.

The 2nd bill would have made it a crime for any city or county official to attempt to pass gun control laws stricter than the state. Several states, such as Florida, have similar laws in place and they have been effective in preventing legal battles between local governments and the state. The governor commented as follows on that bill,

“Furthermore, I am troubled by the vague and punitive provision that a person in violation of the statute is ‘subject to termination from employment.’”
