请问申请CCW的利弊？

我在弗吉尼亚州，算是对枪支相对友好的州。我也参加了CCW的课程，但是一直没有申请CCW。我自己对concealed carry weapon没有太多需求，买来的枪支也基本是去打靶和用来家防。我唯一觉得需要CCW的时候就是遇到自然灾害需要全家避难甚至SHFT的时候，那时真是需要随身带着武器，不然平时都是从家里到学校上班也没有机会身上带枪吧？身边的朋友说申请CCW了以后政府就知道了你有枪，将来就有可能来家里收枪，或者在路上被警察拦住以后发现你有CCW，会对你有更严格的审查。虽然我觉得这些说法有些不正确，但是也不是很肯定。请问枪友们怎么看？

阅读了FJC的大作之后才知道有CCW之后警察会对持有者更友好，看来我的担心是多余的了。
如果有了CCW，就可以把枪放在车里了。那么如果开车去学校，把车停在学校的停车场之后，可以把枪留在车里吗？这里的学校可以扩展到其他的gun free zone。

问题越来越难了。尤其是跟各州的法律和gun free zone（assailant kill free zone）接轨。

你说的情形到是值得考虑。最近我家附近就有人在路上白天被持枪抢劫了，说起来我家附近也算是比较好的区了，看来还是要防患于未然啊。

你是可以申请到，很多人都申请不到，因为身份问题。 我们州是可以直接在车里放枪，车算你的property。但是你说路上遇上个啥的。是不，不是一万就怕万一啊。

除非你从来都是私人购枪，政府本来就知道你有枪。。。每次背景检查NICS都会查你的信息。。要是本地政府还有什么registry那就更不用说了。

前辈们给个肯定会回答嗷，住加州（公民）车上有9颗子弹上膛的散弹枪，后备箱里有小铁箱（密码锁的那种）铁箱里有两个10发装的弹匣（装弹完毕）和一把手枪。天天随我跑。问：违法吗？

根据我个人（不是律师）的理解，对于你提出的假设的问题，我纠结的地方在于三个：

• 加州对于子弹弹匣数目的限制
• 天天随我跑。跑的地方会有细节问题（比如gun free zone的parking）
• 上膛的枪。你看看加州： http://oag.ca.gov/firearms/travel 里面关键字是unloaded, locked container。我觉得你第二点符合，但是unloaded不符合。
  

16850. As used in Sections 17740, 23925, 25105, 25205, 25135, and 25610, in Article 3 (commencing with Section 25505) of Chapter 2 of Division 5 of Title 4, in Chapter 6 (commencing with Section 26350) of Division 5 of Title 4, and in Chapter 7 (commencing with Section 26400) of Division 5 of Title 4, "locked container" means a secure container that is fully enclosed and locked by a padlock, keylock, combination lock, or similar locking device. The term "locked container" does not include the utility or glove compartment of a motor vehicle.

25505. In order for a firearm to be exempted under this article, while being transported to or from a place, the firearm shall be unloaded and kept in a locked container, and the course of travel shall include only those deviations between authorized locations as are reasonably necessary under the circumstances.

25610. (a) Section 25400 shall not be construed to prohibit any citizen of the United States over the age of 18 years who resides or is temporarily within this state, and who is not prohibited by state or federal law from possessing, receiving, owning, or purchasing a firearm, from transporting or carrying any pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person, provided that the following applies to the firearm: (1) The firearm is within a motor vehicle and it is locked in the vehicle's trunk or in a locked container in the vehicle. (2) The firearm is carried by the person directly to or from any motor vehicle for any lawful purpose and, while carrying the firearm, the firearm is contained within a locked container. (b) The provisions of this section do not prohibit or limit the otherwise lawful carrying or transportation of any pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person in accordance with the provisions listed in Section 16580.

A handgun placed in a locked in a container in the vehicle other than the utility or glove compartment or while in a locked container carried directly to or from a vehicle is deemed not to be “concealed.” A locked container means a fully enclosed secure container locked by a key lock or similar locking device.

谢谢指教，枪弹分离是避开麻烦第一步，手枪锁在容器内是必须的。
