3 rooster, but our day is special day so we can shoot hen, we 4 did get 2 hen and 12 rooster. one (not in the 12 rooster) lost. one large crow overhead got shot too, about 70 yard at 10 o'clock, flying for another 20 second after firing 3 shots, than drop dead. dog reached the crow, check and did not pick up.
use 3.5 and 3 inch #5 or 6, prefer copper or nickel plated, better than black lead in meat or in cooked meal. more kick and more pellets.
rooster jump and fly faster than crane or geese. semi is much better than pump for everyday Joe. you have fired 3 from semi-auto while pump is ready to fire the 2nd shell. also with semi you are easy to re-aim while pump is slow in re-aim. seems pump re-aim only take split second, but it is LOOOONG TIME since bird fly fast. a split second for bird can cover several yards which is ultra important: this means you shoot the bird at 30 yards or at 35 yard or at 40 yard. for shotgun, 5 yard difference at 40 yard range is HUGE DISTANCE. I think this is the key since rooster fly fast out of shoot range. same principle or logic apply to duck and geese.
