Attorney Chuck Michel, leading authority on federal and state firearms laws, will speak for Jews Can Shoot, an initiative of Children of Jewish Holocaust Survivors, at the Luxe Hotel in Los Angeles on January 26 at 7:30 pm. Chuck Michel, author of California Gun Laws: A Guide to State and Federal Firearm Regulations, will talk about what happens after you use a gun and will update the audience on the controversial Peruta case involving the rules for carrying concealed guns in California. A ruling by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals allowed for relaxed rules, which are determined locally, and other counties have in turn done just that in the wake of the decision. In Orange County, south of Los Angeles, applications for conceal carry permits have skyrocketed. California Atty. Gen. Kamala D. Harris might appeal the 9th Circuit Court ruling and it could end up in front of the Supreme Court of the United States.
